about
hey, i'm oddava, a backend developer.
back in high school, the first thing i ever built was a clock that lived in my telegram name. once a minute, a script woke up, checked the time and renamed me. nobody asked for it, me included. but a few lines in a file had a real app doing what i told it to, and there was no going back.
i learned the backend properly at PDP Academy: python, django, databases, algorithms. the mentors were great, but most of what stuck came from my own projects. the biggest was AniShows, an anime tracker with watchlists, reviews and forums. when i found out AniList doesn't let competing trackers use its data, i moved the whole catalog sync to a self-hosted Jikan instance.
now i write code for a living. work moved me from django to node.js, typescript and vue, and i picked them up quickly. my first big job was replacing an old php site without losing a single article. since then it's been things like tracking down session bugs that only showed up once a token expired.
i use AI every day to move faster, find my way around unfamiliar code, and learn. one rule: i only ship what i understand.
outside of work it's side projects, reading about new tech, and following developers on x (probably more than i should).
next, i want to work alongside people better than me, keep getting sharper, and build things people actually use.
this site is where i keep my notes and anything else worth remembering.
